Hamilton Partnership

NJCDC has played a major role in efforts to create the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. Additional background on NJCDC’s work to create the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park appears in a New York Times audio slideshow.

NJCDC is preparing to launch a new initiative—The Hamilton Partnership—to strengthen Paterson’s economic base and improve the quality of life for the city’s current and future residents by maximizing the benefits of State and Federal funding for the new Paterson Great Falls State/National Park. NJCDC has long recognized the establishment of the new Park as a desirable end in itself but, much more important, sees the opportunity to use the funds, public attention and professional expertise that will accompany the creation of the Park to create new private sector business opportunities to help Paterson residents.

This initiative will be led by Leonard Zax, a native Patersonian and former partner at Latham and Watkins in their real estate and project finance practices, who also served as special assistant to the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Zax is on the faculty of Harvard University, where he teaches a course in Historic Preservation and Urban Revitalization.
